June 5, 2018

UnitingCare Queensland today announced the appointment by the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod, of Mr Nigel Alexander as Chair of the UnitingCare Queensland Board, effective 1 July 2018.

Nigel joined the UnitingCare Queensland Board in May 2017 and brings over three decades of corporate experience to the role of Board Chair including accounting, corporate finance and strategy.

Commenting on Mr Alexander’s appointment, the Moderator of the Uniting Church, Queensland Synod, Rev. David Baker said,

“The Board and I are delighted to welcome Nigel to the role of Board Chair. Since joining in 2017 Nigel has made a very strong contribution to UnitingCare Queensland and we all look forward to working with him in his new capacity as Chair for many years to come.”

“In addition to Dawson’s cessation as Chair, it is with regret we also announce his retirement from the Board, effective 1 July 2018. Dawson has completed the terms available to him under the constitution,” he said.

“Dawson’s eleven years with UnitingCare Queensland have been marked by his strong business acumen and genuine passion for community service and organisational stewardship. Dawson will be greatly missed by everyone and we wish him every success for his future endeavours,” said Rev. Baker.

Mr Petie joined the UnitingCare Queensland Board in 2007 and was appointed Deputy Chair in 2014. In late 2017 Dawson was appointed as Chair of the Board following Mr Craig Barke’s transition from the role of Board Chair to Chief Executive Officer of UnitingCare Queensland in October 2017.
