UnitingCare earns Silver Tier award for inclusive service provision

July 8, 2020

UnitingCare has been recognised with a Silver Tier award in the 2020 Australian LGBTI Inclusion Awards for inclusive service provision.

The awards are Australia’s leading annual celebration of LGBTI inclusion. They are hosted by ACON’s Pride Inclusion Programs, the national not-for-profit LGBTI inclusion support program for employers and service providers.

UnitingCare participated in a national bench-marking index to assess its levels of LGBTI inclusion with customer inclusive service provision.

The index is made up of participating Australian health and community service providers and is a rigorous and evidence-based bench-marking tool that annually assesses organisations in the progress and impact of their LGBTI inclusion initiatives.

UnitingCare chief executive officer Craig Barke thanked teams across the organisation who had worked hard to shape the health and community service provider’s approach to delivering inclusive customer services.

“This award is a direct recognition of your efforts and commitment to achieving positive diversity outcomes,” Mr Barke said.

“We will continue to work on leveraging our strengths across the organisation as well as work on our gaps to ensure we achieve an even better result next year; as well as continue to work on embedding LGBTI inclusion initiatives across our workplaces.”
