COVID pauses Lifeline Brisbane Bookfest

June 29, 2021

Lifeline Brisbane Bookfest is on pause while restrictions are in place during South East Queensland’s lockdown.

The Brisbane Bookfest returned for the first time in 18-mths on Saturday, but following today's Queensland health directive, it will be on hold until the current restrictions are eased, and the lockdown is lifted.

Lifeline Retail General Manager, Jamie Mackay, stated that while the health and safety of customers, volunteers, and staff is the utmost priority, it’s a devastating blow for Lifeline Queensland.

“It’s a massive shame. And while we understand decisions have been made to protect everyone’s health and safety, we also acknowledge that it’s deeply disappointing for our customers.

“We’ll be continuing to monitor the situation, and look forward to when restrictions are lifted after the lockdown and we can re-open our doors.

“Over the last four days we’ve been open there’s been an overwhelming amount of support and we sincerely thank everyone who’s been and purchased books.

“Our staff and volunteers have invested so much time and energy up to this point. And we’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone back at Bookfest when we’re able to re-open.

“We’ll continue to monitor and review the current situation as it evolves and make further announcements when possible, ”said Mr Mackay.
