Practical, on-the-job training

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Traineeships give people with a passion for community and health services an opportunity to gain practical, on-the-job training in areas spread across UnitingCare.

Trainees are supported by formal training and qualifications through a Registered Training Organisation, all in a culturally safe environment. Mentors guide you in your traineeship journey, to help you achieve a long-term career in your chosen field.

What we are looking for?

You have a genuine interest and passion for Human, Health or Community Services, and want to pursue a qualification in Business Administration, Community Services, Customer Service, Health Services, Food Services or Individual Support. You will also be enthusiastic and have a strong work ethic, with a demonstrated integrity and respect for your community. You must be able to commit to the entire period of the traineeship.

School-based traineeships: Are available to people in Year 11 or 12, with at least six months of school remaining.

Full-time or part-time adult traineeships: Are available to people who meet the entry-level requirements for a vocational education and training (VET) qualification at a Certificate Level III.

An inherent requirement of this role is that the successful applicant identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and/or South Sea Islander under S25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld.)
