Guide to home modifications | NDIS
The NDIS Guide to Home Modifications explains how changes to a home can improve safety, accessibility and independence for people with disability, ranging from simple adaptations to complex structural modifications. It outlines what the NDIS may fund, the assessment and approval process, and the steps involved in planning, building and completing home modifications that are considered reasonable and necessary.

Home adjustments | My Aged Care
My Aged Care Home Adjustments provides funding for prescribed modifications to help older people live more safely and independently at home, such as grab rails, ramps, stair lifts, and accessible bathroom changes. Access to these supports requires an aged care assessment, and modifications must be recommended by a qualified health professional and meet approved funding criteria.

The Queensland Government's Modifications to Your Home program helps eligible public housing tenants with long-term health conditions, disability, or age-related difficulties by funding home modifications that improve safety, accessibility, and independence. Examples include installing grab rails, ramps, and bathroom, kitchen, or sensory-support modifications, with assessments arranged through an occupational therapist and approved works funded by the department

Aids, equipment and assistive technologies - qld.gov.au
The Queensland Government’s Aids, Equipment and Assistive Technologies program provides information, resources, and funding pathways for products and technologies that help people with disability improve independence and participate in everyday activities. It also connects individuals with professional advice and support services to ensure assistive equipment is suitable for their needs and to access available funding assistance.

Find specialist disability accommodation (SDA) | NDIS
The NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Finder helps participants with SDA funding locate suitable housing vacancies based on their needs, such as location, building type, accessibility level, and support requirements. It also allows participants to connect with providers and safeguards informed decision-making by encouraging them to confirm that a property meets their individual needs before entering into an agreement.

Emergency and temporary housing - qld.gov.au
The Queensland Government’s Emergency and Temporary Housing service provides information, referrals, and support for people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, affected by disasters, or experiencing domestic and family violence. It connects individuals with emergency accommodation, shelters, housing assistance services, and the Homeless Hotline to help them find safe and temporary housing during a crisis.

Housing and Homelessness Support | Support for Veterans | RSL Queensland
RSL Queensland Housing and Homelessness Support assists veterans and their families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness by providing case management, connections to emergency accommodation, navigation of housing services, and support to secure longer-term housing solutions. RSL Queensland also offers access to subsidised independent living accommodation for eligible veterans in selected locations and works with external housing providers to help veterans find suitable and stable housing.

Support for individuals who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness | My Aged Care
My Aged Care – Support for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness or at Risk of Homelessness provides information and access to aged care services for older people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, helping them receive safe, respectful, and person-centred care that meets their individual needs. The service supports eligible older Australians to access assessments, aged care services, housing and financial supports, and specialised providers that can assist with maintaining wellbeing, independence, and housing stability.

Housing and homelessness support | Brisbane City Council
Brisbane City Council – Housing and Homelessness Support provides information, referrals, and community programs for people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Brisbane. The service connects people with housing, health, employment, and support services through initiatives such as Homeless Connect, Public Space Liaison Officers, and partnerships with community organisations to help improve housing stability and wellbeing.
 

Home - Queenslanders With Disability Network
Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is a statewide, member-based organisation run by and for people with disability that promotes disability rights, advocacy, peer support, and community inclusion across Queensland. Through its network, programs, events, and housing resources, QDN helps people with disability connect with others, build skills, influence policy, and make informed decisions about housing and support options.

Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Services (QSTARS)
Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS) is a free, independent service that provides Queensland renters with advice, advocacy, and support to understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities, resolve rental issues, and maintain stable housing. QSTARS can assist with tenancy disputes, communication with property owners or managers, tenancy forms and letters, and preparation for tribunal hearings, helping reduce the risk of homelessness and housing insecurity.

RTA dispute resolution service | Residential Tenancies Authority
The RTA Dispute Resolution Service is a free, confidential conciliation service provided by the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) that helps tenants, residents, property owners, and property managers resolve tenancy disputes without the need for legal action. Independent conciliators assist both parties to negotiate and reach a mutually acceptable agreement, with most disputes resolved through the process before progressing to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).

Tenancy and housing - Legal Aid Queensland
Legal Aid Queensland – Tenancy and Housing provides information and referrals to help people understand their rights and responsibilities in housing and tenancy matters, including disputes involving tenants, flatmates, and housing-related legal issues. While Legal Aid Queensland generally does not provide advice on landlord–tenant disputes, it directs people to specialist services such as Tenants Queensland, QSTARS, community legal centres, and other organisations that can offer tenancy advice, advocacy, and assistance.

Bond loans and rental grants - qld.gov.au
Bond Loans and Rental Grants are Queensland Government financial assistance programs that help eligible people secure private rental accommodation by covering upfront housing costs. Bond loans provide interest-free and fee-free loans to help pay a rental bond, while rental grants provide a one-off payment (not requiring repayment) to assist people experiencing housing crisis with the cost of moving into a rental property.
 

Advocacy supports - qld.gov.au
Advocacy Supports (Queensland Government) provide free, independent assistance to people with disability, their families, and carers to help them understand and exercise their rights, navigate the NDIS and other services, address discrimination or unfair treatment, make informed decisions, and build self-advocacy skills. The Queensland Disability Advocacy Program funds specialist advocacy organisations across the state that offer information, referrals, and individual advocacy support to help people resolve issues and access the supports they need.

Health care for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people -ATSICHS
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS) Brisbane is a not-for-profit community-owned health care and community services organisation delivering on the unique health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in greater Brisbane and Logan. Services include medical and dental clinics, child and family health services, youth services, social and emotional wellbeing programs and services, a birthing in our community hub, an aged care facility, and a variety of family and child support services including child protection, family wellbeing services, kindergarten programs and a children and family centre, NDIS, Elder support, Housing and Extended Post Care Support.

Housing Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples - Queensland with range of housing pathways available, from emergency accommodation through to long-term rental, home ownership and aged care housing.
 

Asylum Seeker and Refugee Assistance (ASRA) Program - Communify Qld
The ASRA Program is a partnership of seven Queensland organisations that supports vulnerable asylum seekers and some refugees with emergency relief, housing, health, legal, mental health, and employment assistance. Eligible participants can access ongoing specialist support, while all asylum seekers can visit ASRA outreach hubs for help with forms, information, and community connection.
 

Domestic and family violence help in Queensland
DVConnect is a Queensland-wide service that helps people affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence by providing free, confidential crisis support, safety planning, referrals, emergency assistance, and pathways to safety. It operates services including the 24/7 Womensline, Mensline, Sexual Assault Helpline, VictimConnect, and specialist support programs, with the goal of helping Queenslanders live free from violence and fear.

DVConnect Mensline - a helpline for men in Queensland
DVConnect Mensline is a free and confidential Queensland helpline that supports men who are experiencing domestic and family violence, as well as men who want help to recognise and change abusive behaviours in their relationships. The service provides counselling, safety planning, referrals to specialist programs, emergency transport assistance, and information to help men build safer and healthier relationships and access appropriate support services.

The Priority Project – Queensland | Mission Australia
The Priority Project is a Mission Australia and Salvation Army initiative in South East Queensland that helps women who have experienced domestic and family violence access safe private rental housing by partnering with property managers and landlords to prioritise eligible applicants. It provides tenancy support and case management to help women secure and sustain housing, reducing the risk of homelessness and returning to unsafe living situations.

People experiencing domestic and family violence or sexual violence - qld.gov.au
People experiencing domestic and family violence can access emergency housing and support services in Queensland. Assistance may include removalists to help relocate belongings to a safe property and other essential housing-related support.
 

Financial assistance - qld.gov.au
Financial Assistance (Queensland Government) provides information about financial support, budgeting assistance, and counselling services for people experiencing financial hardship, unemployment, or loss of income. The service helps Queenslander’s access support such as No Interest Loans (NILS), rent and mortgage assistance, Centrelink payments, concessions, and financial counselling to improve their financial wellbeing and manage difficult circumstances.

Financial counselling - Moneysmart.gov.au
MoneySmart – Financial Counselling explains that financial counselling is a free, confidential service provided by not-for-profit organisations to help people experiencing financial stress, debt, or difficulty paying bills. Financial counsellors can assess a person’s financial situation, negotiate with creditors, assist with hardship arrangements, and connect people with other support services, helping them make informed decisions and regain financial stability.
 

Emergency Boarding | AWLQ
AWLQ Emergency Boarding Program provides short-term emergency pet boarding for eligible people who are facing situations such as hospitalisation, medical treatment, or other crises and have no alternative care available for their pets. The program aims to keep people and their pets together during difficult times by offering temporary care through referrals from hospitals, support workers, and community service organisations, helping reduce the risk of pet surrender and supporting owner wellbeing.

Pets Of The Homeless Australia | Keeping Best Friends Together
Pets of the Homeless Australia is a charity that helps vulnerable people keep their pets during times of hardship by providing essential support such as pet food, veterinary care, emergency boarding, foster care, and safe shelter services. The organisation works to prevent the separation of people and their pets due to homelessness, housing insecurity, domestic violence, or financial disadvantage, recognising the important role pets play in wellbeing and recovery.

Pets in Crisis program - Pet services | RSPCA Qld
RSPCA Queensland’s Pets in Crisis Program provides free temporary boarding, care, and veterinary support for pets belonging to people escaping domestic and family violence, ensuring they do not have to choose between their own safety and their pet’s welfare. Delivered in partnership with DVConnect, the program offers up to 28 days of emergency pet care while individuals secure safe accommodation and longer-term arrangements for their animals.
