Women’s Advocacy
Women’s Advocacy is a free, voluntary and confidential service for women connected to someone participating in UnitingCare’s Men Choosing Change or Men Sustaining Change programs.
If a person in your life is taking part in one of these programs, a Women’s Advocate may contact you to check in about your safety and wellbeing. You can choose whether you would like to engage, and what that support looks like for you.
Women’s Advocacy is here to partner with you, listen to what is happening for you and your children, and support you to access the information and practical help you need.
What support can look like
What support can look like:
- talk through any safety concerns for you and your children
- provide information and counselling about domestic and family violence
- support safety planning, if it is needed
- help you explore what support you want, and provide referrals to services in the community
- provide general information about the Men Choosing Change and Men Sustaining Change programs
- provide advocacy at any time while the person is engaged in the program, and for up to six months after they exit.
Who can access Women’s Advocacy
Women’s Advocacy is available to women who currently or previously experienced domestic and family violence from a person participating in UnitingCare’s Men Choosing Change or Men Sustaining Change programs.
This is a voluntary service. You do not have to engage if you do not want to.
