Am I eligible for the NDIS?

To be able to apply for and receive access to the NDIS, you’ll need to answer yes to all of the questions on the following checklist.

Residency

Are you an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a Protected Special Category Visa?

Age

Are you under 65 years of age?

If you’re over 65 when the NDIS reaches your area, you won’t be eligible – but that doesn’t mean you won’t receive support. People aged 65 or over who currently receive disability supports will continue to receive the same funding system and level of support as before.

Location

Do you live in an area where the NDIS is currently available?

You won’t be able to register with the NDIS until six months before it arrives in your area.

Support

Do you:

— Require support from a person or equipment to carry out activities of daily living because of an impairment or condition that is likely to be permanent?

or

— Require some supports now to reduce your support needs in the future?

If you’re still not sure if you’re eligible for the NDIS, visit the government’s online NDIS eligibility checker or contact them directly to make an Access Request.
