The Remote Family Care Service is the only service of its kind in Queensland, providing short-term early learning programs for children and family support.
Remote Family Care Service (RFCS) is a flexible early childhood education program supporting families in rural and remote Queensland.
We place qualified Early Childhood Educators in family homes for up to three weeks per year, providing hands-on learning and care tailored to young children’s needs.
To better meet the complex needs of remote families, RFCS now includes a Family Outreach Worker who works alongside educators to provide parenting support, referrals, practical in-home assistance, and advocacy for families facing challenges.
We recognise that families play a critical role in a child’s development, so supporting parents is just as important as caring for children. Empowering parents and connecting families to vital services and community networks helps ensure those supports are within reach.
Together, educators and outreach workers provide a holistic support system that strengthens both early childhood development and family wellbeing.
